The ability to give a thoughtful and constructive critique is nearly as valuable as the ability to receive one. Absorbing criticism is a difficult skill, but it can be learned—and being able to use and give that criticism will make you a stronger writer. In this course, you'll practice analyzing content to give kind and helpful feedback, while receiving your own feedback in a nurturing and encouraging environment.
Included in this course:
live lessons
recorded replays
analysis guidelines and checklists to help structure your feedback
practice giving and receiving feedback in a small, supportive group setting
These lessons are built on academic standards for students in grades 6-8, and include materials to support students who are learning these skills at an introductory level.
These lessons are built on academc standards for students in grades 9-12, and include materials which provide a more in-depth study of the featured topics, skills, and materials.
Live lessons will meet 2-3 times a week via Zoom according to the class schedule. Each zoom meeting will include a lesson, time for discussion and questions, and an activity to be completed offline. If you can't make it to a live class, each meeting will be recorded and will be available to watch the next morning. When the term is over, you will lose access to the videos, but your learning materials (worksheets, downloads, etc.) are yours to keep.
