As the title says, this course is for students who already write and enjoy poetry. In this class, you'll study published poets of various styles, practice specific techniques, and learn how to publish your own writing through literary magazines, contests, or in your very own chapbook.
Included in this course:
pre-recorded lessons
guided analysis of a variety of poetry
writing prompts to spark your creativity
poetry publication roadmap
These lessons are built on academic standards for students in grades 6-8, and include materials to support students who are learning these skills at an introductory level.
These lessons are built on academc standards for students in grades 9-12, and include materials which provide a more in-depth study of the featured topics, skills, and materials.
At the beginning of the course, you'll receive the pre-recorded lessons and class materials for the whole course. I suggest a pace of one lesson (with accompanying activities) a week, though you are welcome to complete them at any time during the 4 week term. At the end of each week, I will hold online "office hours" via Zoom, during which we can connect to discuss your progress as well as any questions you may have. When the term is over, you will lose access to the videos, but your learning materials (worksheets, downloads, etc.) are yours to keep.
